Another great success for the 2011 French Film Festival
In its 12th year, the Dublin French Film Festival remains as popular as ever. Once again this year, the public responded in their droves to celebrate French cinema, with ten days of an eclectic and outstanding selection featuring both classic and contemporary films. More than 5,300 people attended the screenings of 21 exclusive premieres to Ireland as well as a few films part of the special focus on Claude Miller and a retrospective on the winners of the Jean Vigo Prize. ch Film Festival ended last 27th November.

The 2011 French Film Festival
The French Embassy in Ireland and the IFI are delighted to announce the 12th French Film Festival, which will take place from November 16th to November 27th 2011.

The 60th Wexford Festival Opera
The Wexford Festival Opera, with the support of the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Ireland, presents La cour de Célimène by Ambroise Thomas (1811-1896), an opera comique, written in French and containing both spoken and sung passages.
To mark the special contribution of the French Embassy and Danone to the 60th Anniversary of the Wexford Festival Opera, the 2011 Friends of Wexford Opera Lecture was hosted at the French Residence . -
Dublin Contemporary 2011
Dublin Contemporary 2011 is the first ever large-scale visual art exhibition to take place in Ireland and will showcase works by several French artists and artists based in France. You will find the huge sculpture Le berceau by artist Wang Du, based in Paris, the monumental light installation Light house II by French artist Jeanne Susplugas, the last works by pioneering conceptual artist Braco Dimitrijevic and the latest creations by French artist Alain Declercq and Parisian collective Claire Fontaine.

Music : Duo Chagall at Farmleigh House
Duo Chagall, the celebrated partnership of Gillian Williams (Ireland), violin, and Arun Rao (France), cello, will present Autumn Sounds, two classical music evenings in Farmleigh House. The duo will perform the late Chamber Music of French composers Ravel, Debussy, Franck & Fauré with guest pianist Darina Gibson.

You will be helped in the process by Rony Sidon, a visual and community artist from Guadeloupe and Ben Gaulon from Graffiti Research Lab France who will show you how to create DrawBots. -
Conference: "Matisse’s Printmaking Techniques" - 31/08/11
On 31st August, Dr. Nicholas Zmelty will present a special talk on Matisse and his engraving techniques. Dr Zmelty is a contemporary art history teacher at the Université de Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens (France).
This lecture is presented as part of the events organised in the framework of the exhibition of French artist Henri Matisse currently showcased at the Chester Beatty Library until 25th September.

The French collective of artists and technologists Graffiti Research Lab France will take part in an exhibition entitled "This Place Has No Atmosphere", presented by the Irish Museum of Contemporary Art as part of the Dublin Contemporary 2011 events.
