How did veterans of the Great War contribute to the creation of new states in Europe? A two-day conference at University College Dublin (28-30 March 2019).

Post-War Transitions in Europe: Politics, States and Veterans (1918-1923) is a conference commemorating the end of the Centenary of the First World War. It aims to appraise how veterans of the Great War contributed to the creation of new states in Europe and participated to the peace process through associative or political activism.

The conference will be closed by the 2019 History Competition for Secondary Schools award ceremony. Organised by the National Library in Ireland with the support of the Embassy of France in Ireland, this competition looks into the Homecoming of WWI Troops with a particular focus on Franco-Irish Perceptions of the Conflict.

A conference organised by UCD Centre for War Studies with the support of the Irish Research Council and the Embassy of France in Ireland. This conference was awarded the Centenary Certification (project 01 IRL 0118) by the French Centenary Partnership Program Mission du Centenaire and is part of the Festival of la Francophonie in Ireland.
