500 years of Renaissance(s) in Centre-Val de Loire - Viva Leonardo Da Vinci
The Loire Valley, its kings, its gardens, its river and its valley dotted with castles is considered as the cradle of the Renaissance in France. Historical figures such as Francis I, Catherine de Medici, Leonardo da Vinci and Anne de Bretagne contributed to the development of the Renaissance in the Center-Val de Loire region and stimulated artistic creation, philosophy, science and literature. The Châteaux of the Loire are probably more beautiful testimony.
For this heritage and natural ensemble, the Loire Valley received in 2000 the distinction of a classification by UNESCO.
In 2019, the Center-Val de Loire Region will celebrate 500 years of Renaissance (s): a renaissance found and reinvented. The region wishes to be part of a dynamic of innovation and creation, notably with major contemporary art sites such as the FRAC (Regional Contemporary Art Fund) in Orléans, the CCCOD (Contemporary Creation Center Olivier Debré) in Tours, the Transpalette in Bourges or the Regional Estate of Chaumont-sur-Loire, Arts and Nature Center.
The celebrations will take place throughout the year 2019, punctuated by various highlights including a Franco-Italian intergovernmental summit at the Château de Chambord and a large traveling digital show that will address a wide audience.
Beyond a historic anniversary, the "500 years of Renaissance (s)" will open a new page to continue this great revolution of the Renaissance. Today, the discovery of the regional heritage passes by the most innovative technologies and the Center-Val de Loire region impels and supports many projects in this field.
The spirit of the Renaissance blows in the Loire Valley !
