Fergus Finlay wins 2013 Human Rights Prize of the French Embassy in Ireland

Chief Executive of Barnardos Ireland, Fergus Finlay was presented with the 2013 Human Rights prize of the French Embassy in Ireland at a ceremony attended by over 70 guests in the French Residence Dublin on the evening of December 3rd.
Chargé d’affaires Philippe Ray, who presented Fergus Finlay with the award reminded the guests that "this prize recognises the commitment, the courage and the generosity of human rights defenders. These advocates dedicate their lives, their time and their energy to protecting and defending the rights of those who are most vulnerable in our societies; all too often women and children. As we all know, defending children’s rights is a battle tirelessly fought by Fergus Finlay."

The first annual award was won last year by Colm O’Gorman of Amnesty International Ireland.
