French Senator Hélène Conway-Mouret to visit the IIEA
On 22 May 2014, French Senator Hélène Conway-Mouret will participate in an exchange of views with IIEA members on the political situation in France in the context of the European Parliament elections, which take place this week. She will also brief participants on her work as Minister of State with responsibility for the French abroad from June 2012 until April 2014. This is a particularly timely intervention, as the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade analyses the results of a public consultation on Ireland’s engagement with the Diaspora conducted in recent months.
Hélène Conway-Mouret was appointed Minister of State for the French Abroad in the government of Jean-Marc Aryault in June 2012. Previously, since September 2011, she served as a Senator representing the French abroad (northern Europe) and was Secretary of the Committee on Armed Forces and Foreign Affairs. She has a long association with Ireland, and was head of the School of Languages at DIT and Project Leader of the IIEA France Group for many years.
Any members interested in attending this meeting, on 22 May 2014 at 10.00a.m. should contact Linda Barry on firstname.lastname@example.org or (01)8746756.
