History competition on WW1 - Essay in French

"The Homecoming of WWI Troops" is the theme of this history competition for Post-Primary schools - 3 categories : essay, essay in French and creative project.
Deadline : March 1st 2019

The 2019 First World War History Competition for Secondary School welcomes proposals from individuals or groups of individuals (4th to 6th years) wishing to submit a research project in one of the three categories selected for the Competition.

Essay Prize
A 3,000-word essay on a chosen topic related to the homecoming of Irish troops to Ireland.

French Essay Prize
A 1,500-word essay on a chosen topic written in French related to the homecoming of French troops to France.

Creative Project Prize
A piece of creative work. Interdisciplinary projects are strongly encouraged and may adopt a comparative perspective.

List of possible subjects for the Competition :

- World War One commemorations
- World War One memorials
- Veterans’ Associations
- The homecoming of the disabled
- The homecoming of the disfigured
- Artists and the memory of the conflict
- Trauma and war neuroses
