If you are a student (PHD or Master degree)...

If you are a student (PHD or Master degree) or a researcher, and if you are travelling to France to attend a conference, you must provide the embassy with the following requirements, in originals and photocopies.

- Please note that the usual processing time, indicated on the website, might be extended when applying for this type of visa.

- Please make sure to provide the Embassy with all the following requirements. Failing to do so might lead to a delay in the processing time or even to a rejection of your application.

Passport or travel document Please note that your document has to be valid for a period of 3 months (90 days) after the intended return and have at least 2 blank pages. You should provide the Embassy with a copy of your passport that includes all the inside pages apart from the blank ones.
Re-entry visa to Ireland That visa should be valid for at least 3 months after the intended return
1 passport size photograph In color with a white background
GNIB/IRP Card (Irish Residence Permit) Your GNIB/IRP card has to be valid for at least 3 months (90 days) after the intended return from the Schengen area
Flight bookings Your flight (or ferry, train, bus) should be fully booked on application.
N.B.: if you do not want to run the risk of losing your payment in case of rejection, you might try and book through a travel agency
Travel and repatriation insurance You should provide the embassy with the policy/membership certificate/certificate of registration with your name, surname and validity dates.
The insurance should be subscribed with a provider in Ireland. It should cover you for your whole stay, for the whole Schengen area, with a minimum cover of 30 000 euros. Proof of same should be provided (a card is not sufficient)
N.B.: The European Medical Card does not meet those criteria.
Hotel booking Confirmed hotel booking for your full stay in the Schengen area
For employees: a recent letter from your employer That letter should indicate your date of hiring, your position in the company, your yearly salary and the dates and purpose of your trip.
Your pay slips for the last 3 months With, quite obviously, your name and the name of the company.
For students: letter from the higher education institution If you are staying in Ireland as a student (stamp 2) please bring a letter from your college/university stating the matter and level of your studies, the dates and purpose of your trip.
For students on a scholarship If you are sponsored by your government and in receipt of a stipend, you will produce a lawful confirmation of it.
Registration for the conference When travelling to attend a conference, you will be asked to produce the proof of registration for the intended conference.
Topic of your research and a simplified version of your abstract You will be asked to produce to the embassy a small version of your abstract, a simple presentation of your researches with their topic
CV/Resume When travelling for a conference, it is compulsory to provide the embassy with your recent CV
Bank statements On application you should produce your bank statements for the last 3 months. The last one should be less than 15 days old. Those statements should bear your name and address. If needed, you can complete the documents you received from the bank with a mini statement from the ATM.
When applicable you may produce statements for all your accounts including saving and credit card statements.
An envelope with an 8€ stamp per passport If you cannot come back to collect your passport after the visa process, please provide the visa section with an envelope bearing your correct name and address and the stamp of 8€. Note that your passport might not reach you on the collection date due to postal delay. In case of rejection the French Embassy will not return your passport by post, you will have to collect it in person.
