Jean-Yves Le Drian and Franck Riester committed to export french cultural and creative industries [fr]
On the occasion of the conference of the ambassadors, and in the context of the extension of the strategy committee for the export of the cultural and creative industries (ICC) of April 11th, 2019, Mr Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and Mr Franck Riester, Minister for Culture, presented on August 29th, 2019, the strategy of support for international ICC, during a diplomatic session « in the department of cultural and creative industries».
While the President of the Republic announced the organisation, in next autumn, of the general states of cultural and creative industries and the creation of a strategy committee for ICC, Mr Le Drian asserted his will « to reach a decisive mobilisation of Quai d’Orsay for the export of cultural industries». He set it as a «priority mission ICC» to 37 ambassadors whose countries of residence, identified in connection with the Ministry of Culture and the representatives of professional sectors(networks), are considered having a high potential in the development and in the export of French ICC. The ambassadors will have to hand back to the Ministers a plan of action in favour of the development of ICC, by the end of the year.
The Minister for Culture recalled the increasing importance of the economic weight of ICC, which carries high creativity and French innovation across the world: «We must widen our mobilisation to support and accompany the structuring of this sector, as well as our artists and our creators». ICC represents a major stake for competitiveness, attraction and development of the French economy today. They are also an important tool of influence in the world, by contributing to the spreading of culture, of expertise, of our cultural model and of our language.
