Limerick: the first Night of Ideas 2020 [fr]

The Alliance Française Limerick presents La Nuit des Idées / The Night of Ideas in partnership with French Embassy in Ireland and the Institut Français.

"Make our planet great again" at the very first Night of Ideas in Limerick featuring musical readings and the screening of French documentary "Tomorrow" (Demain), directed by Ciryl Dion and Mélanie Laurent, who travelled the world to investigate concrete solutions to environmental and social challenges. The screening will be followed by a debate on climate change issues.

6 pm - Musical Readings on the theme ‘Make our planet great again!’

7 pm - Screening of "Tomorrow (Demain)", 2015 French documentary film directed by Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent. It is not just a film, it is the beginning of a movement seeking to encourage local communities around the world to change the way they live for the sake of our planet. So far, no other documentary has gone down such an optimistic road. In French with English subtitles.

9pm-10pm: Conversation with the audience lead by Dr Loïc Guyon (Honorary Consul of France in Limerick), including short presentations by Ms Roisin Buckley (Limerick Cycling/Limerick Cycle Bus initiative), Ms Madeleine Lyes (Irish Pedestrian Network/+CityxChange) and Dr John Morrissey (Geography Department, MIC).

About The Night of Ideas/La Nuit des idées
The Night of Ideas is a worldwide initiative, spearheaded by the Institut Français, that celebrates the stream of ideas between countries, cultures, topics and generations.
The French Embassy in partnership with Irish cultural organisations is proud to present the third edition of La Nuit des idées/The Night of Ideas in Ireland on Thursday 30th January 2020 in 4 cities: Dublin and Galway and for the very first time in Cork and Limerick!
The events will revolve around the theme "Being Alive" with special guests, film screenings and debates questioning the ecological balances and the relation of man to the world in a global context of biodiversity loss as a result of climate change.
