Culture Night at the French Embassy!

The French Embassy is delighted to participate for the first time in Culture Night and the Downstairs Dublin initiative in Merrion Square, organised by the Irish Times and the Merrion Square community.
The new location of the French Embassy at 66 Merrion Square will host “Urban Light Contacts”, an interactive sound and light installation by French artists Scenocosme.
“Urban Light Contacts” is a sound and light interactive installation with body and skin in the public space. In a sensory staging, spectators’ bodies are transformed into sonorous human instruments. When a first person puts his hand on the shiny ball, his body turns reactive to other living bodies.
We invite you all to come along, adults and children, and take part in this engaging digital experience!

Exhibition: "What We Call Love"

Curated by Christine Macel, Chief Curator at Centre Pompidou, with Rachael Thomas, Head of Exhibitions at IMMA, What We Call Love features almost 200 works, including over 30 works on loan from major collections such as Centre Pompidou, Paris; Tate, London; Museé Picasso, Paris; Andy Warhol Museum to name a few.
Love in the 20th Century, according to the poet Arthur Rimbaud, had to be reinvented. Nowadays, in a world full of crisis and conflicts, tensed between opposite ideals, and submitted to increased individualism and intense consumption, love is seriously threatened and regularly challenged.
What We Call Love explores how the notion of love has evolved within the 20th century.
Featuring modern and contemporary masterworks from the world’s leading collections by ABRAMOVIĆ, BRANCUSI, DALÍ, DUCHAMP, ERNST, GIACOMETTI, OPPENHEIM, PICASSO, WARHOL, YOKO ONO, and many more.

A first in Ireland - LA Fashion Tech (France) presents: Sustainable Fashion Tech Show - When technology meets fashion!
 LA Fashion Tech is a French organisation that seeks to bring together the ecosystem of fashion and technology in a sustainable development perspective.
French FashionTech designers Jeanne Bloch, artist choreographer and fashion tech entrepreneur, Nancy Boehm, E-Textile designer and Alice Giordani, designer focusing on the latest innovation trends within Textile and Electronics, as well as Teresa Almeida, researcher at the Culture Lab Newcastle (UK), will come for the first time in Ireland to showcase their unique creations… Wearables LED and intelligent textiles…They want to show the Future of fashion!
Along with Claire Garvey (world winning designer) launching her 1st ever Menswear Collection,  a Students' Design Competition with outfits made with recycled materials and a spectacular futuristic Bodypainting dance entertainment.
This is a fundraising event in aid of Cradle, an Irish non-governmental organisation helping children in war-torn countries and regions of the world hit by environmental crises.

New digital library at TV5 Monde

TV5 Monde is offering an exciting new digital library that contains a choice selection of classics in French literature. The digital library offers not only online copies of the full texts, but also educational resources containing reading and literary analysis strategies.
They will also be publishing news reports from the francophone world every Friday, accompanied by bonus teaching materials to help approach these news reports in a classroom setting.
Both resources are free of charge.
