The France-Ireland Gastronomy Month is back to celebrate gastronomical links shared by France and Ireland, their passion for good food, quality produce and hospitality.
The France-Ireland Gastronomy Month is back!
In 2018, the very first France-Ireland Gastronomy Month was launched with a mouthful of events involving students in culinary arts and chefs from both countries. We are back again in March-April 2019, to celebrate gastronomical links shared by France and Ireland, their passion for good food, quality produce and hospitality.
The official launch for press, professionals and academics will take place on Tuesday 15th January in the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology of Technological University Dublin .
On the agenda:
- a round-table talk focusing on terroir, sustainable practices and protected geographical status with Chefs and food journalists.
- pitch from restaurants and institute of technologies on sustainable practices in culinary arts (see application form below)
- a Masterclass with Irish and French Chefs cooking dishes inspired by Provence along with H.E. Stéphane Crouzat, Ambassador of France to Ireland
- announcement of the France Ireland Gastronomy Tour participants and how to register

You are a Chef, restaurant owner, culinary arts teacher, we would love to hear what’s your vision on sustainability (food provenance, labels, etc.) and how you implement this principle in your cooking/teaching/supplying practices.

-* March-April: Good France Ireland, a pinch of Provence
Good France (Goût de France) is an initiative of the French government launched in 2015, to celebrate the vitality of French cuisine, forge ties between chefs around the world. Every year, trainings in culinary arts and restaurants all around the world are invited to offer a Good France menu.
For 2019, Provence will be in the spotlight! Chefs and trainees are invited to combine their creativity, good practices for sustainable cooking and their love for cuisine to offer a menu using local produce with a pinch of Provence… We are looking forward to see what will be created!
Last year, students of seven Institutes of Technologies and nineteen restaurants took part in this initiative offering a gastronomic tour of Ireland… Stay tuned to see who and where Good France will be taking place in Ireland in 2019!
-* 3rd April: Dairy Chef, may the best Franco-Irish team win!
Launched in 2018, Dairy Chef is the very first joint scholastic competition of Franco-Irish Culinary Junior chefs, with the support of the National Dairy Council in Ireland and the Centre national interprofessionnel de l’économie laitière in France.
Teams, each composed of one French and one Irish students, challenge their skills by composing a menu out of a mystery basket. After a first edition in Dublin in 2018, this year, the competition will take place on Wednesday 3rd April 2019 in the CFA Médéric, in Paris.

-* 3-4-5th April: the 4th FICAHT forum to bring together representatives of French and Irish trainings and professionals in Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism
Created in 2015, the France-Ireland network on Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism (FICAHT) network aims at developing links between academia and industry from France & Ireland and fostering innovation. This year, their annual forum will be taking place in Paris on the 4-5th April 2019.
