Crossed perspectives from two Women University Presidents: Limerick (Ireland) and Bretagne Sud (France) [fr]

For the first time, Limerick and Lorient recently appointed two women at the head of their universities: Kerstin Mey, President of the University of Limerick, and Virginie Dupont, President of the University of Bretagne Sud.

On the occasion of this very peculiar academic year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, these two personalities committed to promoting gender equality and a more inclusive university have accepted to share their experience.

The sanitary context forces universities to innovate with new solutions to resume research and education. How is it possible to articulate both online and classroom education while addressing isolation and student drop-out? What are the approaches in Limerick and Bretagne Sud? How is the Covid-19 pandemic transforming the way in which universities operate? What are the visions put forward by these two Presidents for their universities? What does the future hold for the Franco-Irish academic cooperation?

The debate will be moderated by Prof. Grace Neville, Emeritus Professor at University College Cork.
Closing remarks by Mr. Loïg Chesnais-Girard, President of the Regional Council of Brittany.
