18 December. To mark the 225th Anniversary of the ‘Year of the French’, the French Embassy and Alliance Francaise Dublin present a special edit of the television serial film ‘The Year of the French’ (1982) directed by Michael Garvey and adapted from the novel by Thomas Flanagan.

French Cinema at 2023 Cork International Film Festival
The 68th Cork International Film Festival, Ireland’s first and largest Film Festival, returns with an extended programme from 9th to the 26th November 2023. The French Embassy in Ireland is proud to support this year’s French programme including for the very first time a selection from Cannes Film Festival’s parallel section ’Directors’ Fortnight’, in the presence of its Artistic Director Julien Rejl. This year’s extensive programming also includes The Night of Ideas, culinary cinema, schools programme and the family gala.
