Pierre Joannon tells the story of his friendship of two decades with Greene, formed when they met in Antibes in 1971. The book describes Greene’s relationship with Ireland, its writers, soldiers, and politicians as different as Ernie O’Malley, Seán O’Faoláin, Conor Cruise O’Brien and Gerry Fitt.

Pierre Joannon, MRIA, is author of many books including Histoire de l’Irlande et des Irlandais (2006 and 2009), and of the only French biographies of Michael Collins and John Hume. He has been Honorary Consul General of Ireland in the South of France since 1973. He has received Honorary Doctorates from the National University of Ireland and the University of Ulster.
