We are delighted to announce that the exhibition “Drawing Freely”, today on display at Europe House, will be at the Alliance française Dublin from 15th December to 18th January.
Séamus Dooley, Irish Secretary of the National Union of Journalists will come as guest for this event followed by a reception.
ADMISSION FREE BUT RSVP NEEDED

“Drawing Freely” (Dessins en Liberté) is an exhibition composed of 12 panels of cartoons made by nearly 50 cartoonists from all around the world. Each panel addresses a specific topic linked to freedom of expression: censorship, internet, corruption, women’s rights, rebellions, racism… All of the drawings, made by cartoonists of 45 different nationalities, were published in local papers. Whilst echoing the attacks on Charlie Hebdo in January 2015, this exhibition wants to illustrate how freedom of expression is exercised on all the continents.
The event is presented by the Institut Français and the Courrier International and reproduced within the frame of the Franco-German Cultural Fund 2016.

Séamus Dooley is the Irish Secretary of the National Union of Journalists. He is a former regional newspaper reporter and editor. Prior to becoming a full-time union official he worked as a production journalist with the Irish Independent. Séamus is a member of the Executive Council of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions and is a graduate of the Dublin Instition of Technology (Communications).
