Launch of the book about French publications in Ireland [fr]
The latest issue of the journal "Irish Journal of French Studies" focussing on the important holdings of the early modern French book in Irish libraries, was launched last week.
Last Thursday 18th May, Dr. Derval Conroy (University College Dublin) and Dr. Jean-Paul Pittion (Trinity College Dublin) launched the last issue of the Irish Journal of French Studies, of which they are both co-editors.
Under the title Print Culture in Early Modern France, this issue focuses on the important holdings of the early modern French book held in Dublin libraries.
Through their original approaches and objects, these studies celebrate the diversity of French publishing under the Old Regime as well as the richness of these early holdings in Dublin. These studies as well are a testimony of the vitality of a research domain: historic and material bibliography. By highlighting the materiality of the print object, we rediscover characters of a world we have already lost, the world of past centuries printers, librarians, authors and readers.
The publication of this issue was supported by the Embassy of France in Ireland.
