France, European champion for investment projects [fr]

Like every year, the publication of the European attractiveness barometer by EY provides a comparative analysis with our European neighbors. The 2023 barometer confirms France’s economic influence and attractiveness.

Indeed, for the fourth year in a row, France is the European country that welcomes the largest number of investment projects, ahead of the United Kingdom and Germany. France leads the way in hosting production projects (1,259 projects have been identified for 2022, 40% of which are in industry, a sign of our accelerating reindustrialization) and R&D centers.

These projects benefit all regions: nearly one project out of two is located in rural areas or towns with fewer than 200,000 inhabitants.

In 2022, France welcomed 17 new investment projects of Irish origin, creating or maintaining 1,011 jobs. The number of "Irish" jobs created has more than tripled in one year. Irish R&D and engineering activities have been particularly successful in France, accounting for 10% of all such jobs nationwide.

These positive results are the fruit of the reforms carried out since 2017 to transform and modernize the business environment; they are also to be credited to the efforts of the regions and Team France Invest, around Business France, and the efficiency of our economic diplomacy.

The projects we host contribute to the dynamism of our economy, help create and maintain jobs and boost our regions. This is a marker of the confidence that international investors have in our country over the long term.
