Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne visits Dublin on November 13, 2023 [fr]
At the invitation of the Head of Government of Ireland, the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, the Prime Minister visited Dublin on November 13, 2023, accompanied by the Minister for Higher Education and Research, the Minister for Energy Transition, the Minister Delegate for Digital Affairs and the Secretary of State to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, responsible for Europe.
This working visit began with an in-depth exchange between the two heads of government on international issues and the strengthening of bilateral relations, in the wake of the French President’s visit in 2021, as well as on major European negotiations.
The two heads of government introduced the conference on "225 Years of Aspiration to the Republic", a tribute to Franco-Irish friendship. In the wake of the march against anti-Semitism led by the Prime Minister in Paris, the conference was an opportunity to underline the attachment of France and Ireland to our shared republican and European values.
Against the backdrop of climate change and the decarbonization of energy sources, this visit was an opportunity for the Head of Government of Ireland and the Prime Minister to continue strengthening our cooperation in the energy field, symbolized by the Franco-Irish "Celtic Interconnector", the first electricity interconnection between Ireland and the European continent.
The Prime Minister then met with Irish entrepreneurs to celebrate the 10th anniversary of French Tech.
Finally, the Prime Minister met with the French community in Ireland. In particular, she underlined the role played by the French community in bringing our two countries closer together.
